Letter to a friend describing 'a rainy day'

ABC Colony,

Indore

22nd January 2021

Dear Arun,

Hope you are doing well with your studies and we will surely see each other coming vacation. I wish to share my experience of rainy day.

It was time to go to school and the sky became cloudy, so I took an umbrella. While I was on the way, it began to rain heavily. My shoes were all soaked in water and the clothes were spoiled by the time I reached the school.

At school, the attendance was thin, may teachers could not come on time and the students were all drenches so our Principal declared it ‘a rainy day’.

As I reached home, the rain stopped and the weather had become very cool.  Children came out of homes with their paper boats. It was an awesome day!

Yours

Anuj

Unseen Passage - 6

Read the following story carefully:
Once a woman was standing in the balcony of her house. She was holding her baby in her arms.
As she was looking below, the baby slipped out of her hands. Down below there was a heavy traffic on the road. Buses, trucks, cars and scooters were passing by. The mother ran down for help. She cried but could not find her baby anywhere.
People on the road wondered, “Where did the baby go?” They asked her to report to the police.
A truck carrying cushions and pillows stopped near a shop. A baby’s cry came from the back of the truck. The baby was lying on the topmost cushion, sucking its thumb.
“Look, a baby here!,” shouted the truck driver. “How did he get in?”. everyone wondered. Soon the baby was handed over to the police. The police took the baby to its mother. The mother was over joyed and she thanked the police.

Dear Amrita,
Our English teacher Mrs. Sharma had organized a trip to the post office with an intent of bringing the real life, practical knowledge into the curriculum. We visited GPO. The postmaster explained us about the processing of posted letters. He also gave us insight about the wide variety of services offered at post offices. However, children’s favorite part of the visit was the stamp section where they were given information about the types of stamps.

Finally, it was the turn of the children to put all the things learnt to use. So, we purchased stamps and posted our cards. We also presented a Thank You card to the Post master for making this trip immensely educative.

Your loving sister,
Vanya
